Kikskin Single Weave Jiu-Jitsu Gi‏

Kikskin introduces its new Single-Weave Black Jiu Jitsu Gi with gold, white, and black embroidered logos. The Single-Weave Black is the traditional Brazilian – Cut design with a reinforced one-piece top. Pants have Dual-Layer design with thick Twilltape drawcord for durability. This uniform is ideal for everyday training or hot weather competitions.
First Impressions: Along with the gloves and mitts, I bought this gi from my instructor about 6 months back. I had originally purchased the blue gi, while my friend bought a white. Both of the gi’s were 3-A1’s, but we ended up switching due to the fact that he is a little bit taller and the gi’s were different lengths. The gi was just packaged in a heavy duty bag type thing and included a belt, a rather nice belt actually. It has minimal logos, no big flashy patches anywhere.

Fit: The fit varies, like I said two gi’s that were both 3-A1’s were different lengths, not to say it’s this way with all of their gi’s though. Other than that it fits well, I’m about 5′11″ 125lbs, the sleeves are a bit short of my wrists and the pants fall a bit short of the top of my foot. The top fits great, just past my hips, and is pretty tight, while the pants are a little bit baggier. The pants only have 3 loops, but the tightening system is pretty cool, reminds me of the Jaco system(Not the Velcro part). The draw string is made out of the same rip stop material as the pants are and is plenty long. On a side note, the gi does not shrink to much when you wash it and dry it, but then again I pulled it before it was completely dry just incase.

Construction: The gi is seems thick, but once I actually look at it, it really isn’t that thick at all. It’s just “heavy duty” it’s not heavy though. The stitching throughout the gi is seamless, and there are absolutely no loose threads. The lapel is very thick, durable and appears as though it will last a long time and the pants look to be made out of rip stop material. Actually, the entire gi seems like it will last awhile. The belt that comes with the gi is nice, it’s not one of those stiff paper belts, it’s made out of gi material.

Training: The gi looks as good as it did when I first got it, except for the random blood I got on it(The blood comes out for the most part if you use oxy or a similar product). The gi is a bit stiff, but loosens up after a little bit of use. It does not restrict your movement what so ever. The lapel is gi material, not rubber, but it is far more than thick enough to perform lapel chokes. Although the gi is pretty thick, I don’t overheat in it. It has very little give which is great when doing lapel chokes and things of that nature. Rolling in this gi is great, it’s nice and snug to your body, but has enough slack to grab for control. The pants seem to be a rip stop material, nice and heavy duty and a bit baggy; just baggy enough to grab onto, if your the other person that is.

Pros:
Price
Still looks new
Thick Lapel
Great construction
Light ~3.5lbs
Minimal Logos

Cons:
Varying lengths

Overall: I would give the gi a 4/5. It’s definitely a very nice gi for the money. The only problem you might have is the sizing, but if you do get the wrong size, I’m sure they would be more than happy to exchange it for you.
